Bad

One of the ladies who got laid off recently here is a secretary in the front offices. She has worked here for probably twenty years. March 31st is her last day here. Today I saw that she has posted on the lunch room bulletin board items for sale: a large television set, a DVD player, a stereo, an entertainment center. That's really bad when you feel like you have to sell off the family TV. I feel so sorry for her. Bobby is right. There may well be people around you that really have it hard right now, and you may not even know it. Reach out...

  1. Amen, Bro! Not looking for a handout here, but I think I come across to many people as being much better off than I really am. I've been at my job 22 years (23 next month), and I don' know if I'll have my job a month from now. My heart goes out to that woman, and anyone else in a similar predicament. Hugs.

  2. Oh man, the poor woman. I know what that's like...I was about three weeks away from losing my apartment, my pets and selling everything I owned.

  3. X- I feel the same way. I have a great job that I've been at for 28 years now, but who knows how long I will have it at this point? It's frightening, really.

Jen- I assume that means that things are starting to look up for you? I hope so.

  4. Nothing is ever safe. These situations suck, but things do change and they do get better. I hope she is able to find another job before her last day.
